What a dental package really includes

“All-inclusive” sounds simple. Two packages with the same price can include very different things.

Short answer

A Turkish dental package usually bundles some treatment with hotel nights and airport and clinic transfers. Check which treatments are included and which are extra, how many nights on each trip and at which hotel, whether a translator, X-rays, scans and medicines are included, and what happens if you need extra nights. Flights are rarely included. Compare the dental part of the package first.

Most clinics in Istanbul and Antalya that market to the UK sell treatment as a package: the dental work, a hotel and a driver who meets you at the airport. Packages are convenient and often good value. They also make it harder to see what you are paying for, because the dental price is mixed with the travel.

The dental part

Read this first, because it is what you are really buying.

  • Which treatments, how many units, which implant brand and which materials.
  • Temporary teeth between trips.
  • Extractions, scans, X-rays and medicines.
  • What is extra: grafts, sinus lifts, root canals.

The hotel

  • Which hotel, by name, and its distance from the clinic.
  • Nights on each trip. Two trips may have different numbers.
  • Room type, and whether a companion can share at no extra cost.
  • Breakfast or other meals. Soft food matters after surgery.
  • Step-free access and a lift, if you need them. See step-free clinic checklist.

Transport

  • Airport pick-up and drop-off on both trips.
  • Daily transfers between hotel and clinic.
  • Which airport: Istanbul has two, and the drive between them is long.

People

  • An English-speaking coordinator, and whether they attend appointments.
  • A translator during treatment if the dentist does not speak English.
  • A contact number outside clinic hours.

What is usually left out

  • Flights.
  • Extra nights if healing or adjustments take longer.
  • Extras found on the scan.
  • Travel insurance.
  • Repair trips, unless the guarantee covers them.

An example

Precious Dental’s All-on-6 package, for both jaws at £6,500, includes implants, zirconia teeth, a titanium bar, temporary teeth, extractions, hotel (four nights on the first trip, five on the second), airport and clinic transfers, X-rays and medication. Flights are not included. We give it as an example of the level of detail to ask any clinic for.

Comparing packages

  1. Separate the dental part and compare that first.
  2. Count the nights on both trips.
  3. Check the hotel on a map and in reviews.
  4. Price your own flights for both trips.
  5. Ask what extra nights cost.

Common questions

Are flights ever included?

Rarely. Most packages include hotel and transfers but not flights.

Can I stay somewhere else and get a lower price?

Some clinics offer a treatment-only price. Ask; it can suit you if you want a particular hotel or are travelling with family.

What if I need more nights?

Ask in advance whether extra nights are charged and at what rate.
