A step-free clinic checklist
Many UK patients travelling for implants are over 60. A clinic that is right for your teeth also has to be right for your knees, your back and your energy.
Before you book, ask the clinic whether there is step-free access or a lift to the treatment rooms, how far the car can drop you from the door, whether the hotel has a lift and accessible rooms, how long each appointment lasts and whether breaks are possible, and whether a companion can attend appointments. Tell the clinic about any mobility, hearing or sight needs in advance.
A full-arch implant trip can involve a long flight, a hotel, daily transfers and several hours in a dental chair. For patients with arthritis, a heart condition, limited mobility or hearing loss, the logistics matter as much as the dentistry. Ask before you book, not on arrival.
Getting in
- Is there step-free access from the street?
- Is there a lift to the treatment floor?
- Can the car drop me at the door?
- Is there an accessible toilet?
Google Maps listings for some clinics show accessibility details, such as a wheelchair-accessible entrance. Use them as a starting point and confirm with the clinic.
In the chair
- How long is each appointment? Can a long one be split?
- Can I have breaks to stand up?
- Can the chair be adjusted for a bad back or neck?
- Can a companion sit with me?
- If I have hearing loss, will the dentist write things down?
The hotel
- A lift, and a room near it.
- A walk-in shower or grab rails, if needed.
- Soft-food options at meals.
- How far it is from the clinic.
Your health
GOV.UK advises checking that your destination can provide the healthcare you may need and that you have suitable insurance, especially if you have a health condition. Tell the clinic about conditions and medicines before you book, and talk to your GP. Ask the clinic what it would do in a medical emergency and where the nearest hospital is.
Travelling with someone
We recommend that older patients, and anyone having surgery, travel with a companion. Ask whether the package includes a shared room at no extra cost.
Common questions
Can I bring a companion into the treatment room?
Many clinics allow it for consultations, and some for treatment. Ask in advance.
Can appointments be shortened?
Long procedures can often be split over two days. Ask when planning the trip.
Does the HealthTürkiye register show accessibility?
Not in detail. Google Maps listings sometimes show wheelchair-accessible entrances; ask the clinic directly.

Ask Precious Dental for a written plan
Send an X-ray or a few photos of your teeth. A dentist will reply with a written plan and an itemised price. No obligation, and you can compare it with any clinic in this register.
