Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions UK patients ask us most often, with links to the longer guides.
The most important check is that the clinic is on the Ministry of Health’s HealthTürkiye list. After that, get a written, itemised plan after a dentist has seen an X-ray, know the implant brand and the dentist’s name, and get the guarantee terms in writing before you pay.
Before you read the answers
Every answer below is general. For your own mouth, only a dentist who has seen an X-ray can advise you. The longer guides go into each topic in more detail, with sources.
Common questions
Is it safe to have dental treatment in Turkey?
Many UK patients are treated in Turkey without problems, but risks exist. GOV.UK says some British nationals have had complications needing further treatment, and advises discussing plans with your UK dentist and doing your own research. Choose a Ministry-authorised clinic and get everything in writing.
How do I check a clinic is licensed?
Search for it on HealthTürkiye, the Ministry of Health portal. Our step-by-step guide is at how to check a clinic’s licence.
How many trips will I need?
Veneers and crowns usually need one trip of about a week. Implants with permanent teeth usually need two trips three to six months apart.
Will my travel insurance cover dental treatment?
Usually not for planned treatment. The NHS advises telling your insurer about your plans. See travel insurance for dental treatment.
Can I get money back from the NHS?
No. The NHS says you cannot get reimbursement for dental treatment abroad.
What guarantee should I expect?
Look for periods per treatment, in writing, and check who pays travel for repairs. See reading a clinic guarantee.
What if something goes wrong when I get home?
Contact the clinic in writing straight away, see a UK dentist if you are in pain, and keep records. See if treatment goes wrong at home.
How do I complain about a Turkish clinic?
Start with the clinic in writing, then HealthTürkiye’s support line, then the Ministry. See how to complain.
Which city is best?
The clinic matters more than the city, but easy flights matter for two-trip treatment. Istanbul and Antalya have the most authorised clinics. See clinics by city.
Who publishes this register?
Precious Dental, a clinic in Antalya and our top pick. See the advertising disclosure.
Why do some clinics have a low score?
Usually because they publish little in English. A low score means we could not verify something, not that the clinic is poor.
How current is the information?
Each page shows its check date. We aim to re-check every clinic at least every three months.
Ask Precious Dental for a written plan
Send an X-ray or a few photos of your teeth. A dentist will reply with a written plan and an itemised price. No obligation, and you can compare it with any clinic in this register.
