Big dental chain or small clinic in Turkey?

Some clinics in our register declare hundreds of staff and several branches; others have a handful of people. Neither is automatically better.

Short answer

Large groups usually offer polished logistics, many dentists, in-house laboratories and long review records, but you may see several different people and have less say over who treats you. Small clinics often mean the same dentist from start to finish and more flexibility, but less back-up and fewer English-language resources. Whichever you choose, ask who will treat you on each visit and what happens if they are unavailable.

The clinics in our register range from groups declaring several hundred staff to clinics with fewer than ten. On the Ministry list, the typical clinic in Istanbul or Antalya declares around nine or ten staff. A few dozen are far larger. Patients often assume bigger is safer. It can be, but the trade-offs are real.

What large groups do well

  • Logistics. Airport pick-ups, hotels, coordinators who speak English, appointments planned to the hour.
  • Depth. Several dentists, often including specialists, so a complex case can be shared.
  • In-house laboratories, which can speed up crowns and bridges and make adjustments easier. See in-house lab or outside lab.
  • A long public record. Thousands of reviews, years of patients from the UK.
  • Back-up. If your dentist is ill, someone else can see you.

What can go wrong in a large group

  • Different faces. You may meet one dentist for the consultation, another for surgery and a third for the final teeth.
  • A sales layer. Coordinators and sales teams sit between you and the dentist. See high-pressure sales tactics.
  • Branch differences. A group’s reputation may rest on one flagship; your treatment may be at another branch with its own entry on the register.
  • Staff turnover. The dentist in the photos may have left.

What small clinics do well

  • Continuity. Often one dentist plans, treats and follows you up.
  • Direct contact. You may message the dentist, not a coordinator.
  • Flexibility over appointment times and pace.

What can go wrong in a small clinic

  • Less back-up if the dentist is away or ill.
  • Less in English. Guarantees and prices may only be in Turkish, so less can be verified before you go.
  • Capacity. A repair trip in high season may be hard to fit in.
  • Outside laboratories, which can add days.

Questions that work for both

  1. Who will treat me on each visit? Please give their full names.
  2. If that dentist is not available, who sees me?
  3. Which branch, at which address? (Check it on HealthTürkiye.)
  4. Where are my crowns or bridge made, and how long does it take?
  5. If something needs fixing after I go home, how quickly can you see me, and who pays travel?

Where Precious Dental sits

Precious Dental, our top pick, is a mid-sized clinic: four health professionals on its Ministry entry, with a named implant surgeon who also reviews this register. We think that suits patients who want to know who is treating them. It will not suit everyone. Compare it with other clinics in the full comparison table.

Common questions

Do big clinics have better reviews?

They often have more reviews, because they treat more patients. A long record is useful, but the star rating is what matters, and read what reviewers say about follow-up care.

Is a small clinic riskier if something goes wrong?

It can have less capacity to see you quickly on a repair trip. Ask about this before you book. A large group can also be slow if your dentist has left.

How can I tell how big a clinic is?

Its HealthTürkiye entry shows declared health professionals and staff. Our register shows both on each clinic page.
