Dental implants in Turkey
An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. Getting one in Turkey usually means two trips, and the choices that matter most are the brand and the guarantee.
A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone that, once healed, holds a crown, bridge or denture. In Turkey it normally takes two trips: one to place the implant and one, three to six months later, to fit the permanent tooth. Ask which implant brand will be used and get the guarantee in writing. Precious Dental, our top pick, charges £300 per implant.
What an implant is
An implant is an artificial tooth root, usually titanium, placed into the jawbone. Over a few months the bone bonds to it. It can then carry a single crown, a bridge or a denture. The Oral Health Foundation describes implants as a well-established treatment that can last many years with good care.
How it works in Turkey: two trips
- Before you travel: send an X-ray or scan, your medicines and medical history. You should get a written plan with the number of implants, the brand and a price.
- First trip (about 4 to 7 days): a CBCT scan, any extractions, the implants placed, and often temporary teeth.
- Healing at home (usually 3 to 6 months): the bone bonds to the implants.
- Second trip (about 5 to 7 days): scans or impressions, then the permanent crowns or bridge fitted and adjusted.
What to check at the clinic
- The brand, by name, in the written plan. See which clinics name theirs in the implant ranking.
- The guarantee period for the implant and for the crown on top, in writing. They are often different.
- Who places the implant. Ask for the dentist’s name and experience with implants.
- The price of a bone graft or sinus lift, in case the scan shows you need one.
- An implant card listing brand, size and position, to give your UK dentist. See implant cards and records.
What it costs
Precious Dental’s published price is £300 per implant (MegaGen, Neodent or Straumann), with a zirconia crown from £150 per tooth. Other clinics that publish implant prices are listed on our cost page. In the UK, implants are almost always private.
Missing all your teeth?
If you are missing most or all teeth in a jaw, the usual option is a full arch on four or six implants. See All-on-4 and All-on-6 in Turkey. For implants in depth, our sister site dentalimplantsturkey.co.uk covers the whole process.
Common questions
How long do dental implants last?
With good care, many years. The Oral Health Foundation notes there is no lifetime guarantee in nature: plaque around an implant can cause peri-implantitis and, eventually, implant loss. Daily cleaning and check-ups matter.
Why does the implant brand matter?
A UK dentist who looks after your implant later needs compatible parts and tools. A well-known brand is easier to service.
Can I have an implant if I have little bone?
Sometimes, after a bone graft or sinus lift, or with a different implant type. Only a scan can tell. Ask for the price of a graft before you travel.
What does the clinic need from me before I go?
A recent X-ray (an OPG) or a CBCT scan, a list of your medicines and your medical history. Blood thinners and some bone medicines change the plan.
