Veneers in Turkey
A veneer is a thin shell bonded to the front of a tooth. The key question at any clinic is whether you are being offered veneers or crowns.

Only a small amount of enamel is usually removed, unlike a crown, which covers the whole tooth. In Turkey veneers usually take one trip of about a week. Ask the clinic to confirm in writing that your plan is for veneers, how much tooth will be removed and how long the veneer guarantee lasts.
Veneer or crown?
The Oral Health Foundation describes a veneer as a thin covering fixed to the front of the tooth, fitting much as a false nail sits over a nail. A small amount of enamel is removed to make room. A crown, by contrast, covers the whole tooth, which is filed down on every side. Both can be sold as a “smile makeover”. The difference matters because filed teeth cannot be undone.
Who veneers suit
- Discoloured teeth that do not respond to whitening.
- Chipped or worn teeth.
- Small gaps or uneven shapes.
- Slightly crooked-looking teeth, where straightening is not wanted.
The trip
Usually one visit of about a week: planning and a preview of the new smile, preparation, temporary veneers, then the final veneers bonded and adjusted.

- Ask for the plan tooth by tooth: veneer or crown, and why.
- Ask for a preview (a mock-up) before any tooth is prepared.

Common questions
How long do veneers last?
Many years with care, but they can chip, crack or come loose, according to the Oral Health Foundation. Ask for the guarantee period and what it covers.
Can I whiten my teeth instead?
If the teeth are healthy and only discoloured, whitening may be enough. Whitening does not change veneers or crowns, so whiten first if you plan both.
What is a Hollywood smile?
A sales term for a full set of 16 to 20 veneers or crowns. Ask which of the two it is.
